HTC Explorer: Latest Android Device Announced by HTC

1

It was rumored that HTC will be introducing a new smartphone named Pico and then they renamed it to HTC Explorer. Well, we did not know much about it then but today, HTC announced the HTC Explorer officially as their latest Android device and it will be hitting the markets soon.

Htc Explorer Price

Outlook & Some Features

HTC Explorer looks very compact in front of its other HTC mates, it measures only 102.8mm x 57.2mm x 12.9mm and it has a 3.2 inch HBGA display. HTC Explorer is thought to be the most affordable android based HTC smartphone. It’s price range is less than Wildfire and Wildfire S and it really puts the HTC Smart which is Brew based, out of the pasture.

So, this new addition to smartphone market does not look bad at all, because Explorer comes with a decent package of hardware to make it through the strict market. Essentially, HTC Explorer has almost the same hardware as the Wildfire S but different body. As we mentioned above, it is going to be most affordable smartphone yet, HTC has reduced the camera resolution to 3.15 MP, as the Wildfire S came with 5 MP camera.

Htc Android Explorer

After that, HTC Explorer provides a complete Android experience, with the addition of Sense 3.5 UI. Explorer comes with a complete web browser which also supports Flash, social network integrations and many of the other popular features which HTC provides in its best smartphones.

Extra & Unique Features

But there are a couple of extra features, which are uniquely added to HTC Explorer. HTC Phones pointed out that Explorer will have inbuilt data monitor which will be based on the user. It also allows users to track and manage the data allowance and usage on your cellular package, this will help users and they will not need any other third party management system for this purpose.

Exchangeable Back Cover

HTC has also introduced an exchangeable back cover system in the HTC Explorer. Well, it’s not a new thing but still it will be the first Android based HTC handset to have this feature. Its back covers come in different colors which include Active Black, Active Navy, Metallic Black and Metallic Navy and these come with the device when purchased. The customers in India will also have additional options including Active Royal and Metallic Royal. You can purchase extra covers separately and you will need to buy 4 colors at least.

Releasing In 4th Quarter Of this Year

HTC Explorer will be publicly released in the fourth quarter this year and will hit the markets of Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. That’s all we know about the HTC Explorer for now but it is expected that it will be launched soon in an event held by HTC in London. We will keep you updated.

duplicateMovieClip() function in Flash Action Script 3

All of us know that duplicateMovieClip() function doesn’t work in Adobe Flash Action Script 3 (AS3) which was very handy function to duplicate the movie clip in previous versions of Action Scripts such as AS1 and AS2. Flash coders who are migrating from AS2 to AS3 are finding it very difficult to duplicate the movie clip and coding the lengthy lines to do the same.  Below is the process on how to shorten your work and duplicate the movie clip with little code.

  1. Open Adobe Flash software, click on “Action Script 3.0” in create new section
  2. Create a rectangle using “Rectangle Tool”, select it and go to “Convert to symbol” (“F8” key) option under modify menu
  3. Let the name as “Symbol 1” itself, click on “Export for ActionScript” check box and write the Class as “block” which was “Symbol1” before. Click “OK”, again click “OK” for “Action Script Class” warning dialog box
  4. Change the instance name of rectangle as “box0” (0 is number)
  5. Place the following code in frame1

import flash.display.*;
var counter=1;
box0.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,makeblock);

function makeblock(e:Event){

this[“box“+(counter)]=new block;
this[“box“+(counter)].x=this[“box“+(counter-1)].x;
this[“box“+(counter)].y=this[“box“+(counter-1)].y+this[“box”+(counter-1)].height;
addChild(this[“box”+(counter)]);
counter++;

}

  1. Test your movie using Ctrl+Enter and click on the rectangle you have created, you can see a new rectangle below.

That’s it. Here we exported the movie clip to action script as a class named “block” and used “addChild” function to add the another instance of movie clip to the stage. We also specified the new instance name to “box” using the “counter” variable.

Here you can get the attached .fla file of this coding.

Tips on How to Tweet like a Pro for Your Business

Twitter has climbed the social media ladder with its almost 200 million members tweeting 65 million tweets per day. This number proves to be a very solid search base for potential clients that is why most, if not all, business have seen the potential of Twitter in getting clients for their company.

But in order to fully utilize Twitter, businesses must learn how Twitter really works so here are a few tips on how to effectively use Twitter like a Pro and eventually earn new clients.

tweet-tweet and retweet

1. Learn the Basics. To send a message to a Twitter member, you have to use the following keywords:

  • Type the word “d” in front of a username to send a direct / private message to someone who follows you.
  • Type the word “@” before a username to send a public message to any Twitter member. Take note of any call outs to your tweets so you can reply to them and keep the conversation going.
  • You can tweet someone else’s tweet by using the RETWEET feature and then type the letters “RT” in front of the tweet. Type your own insight about the tweet to add your own personal views so it will not look like a spam message.

2. Establish your readers and community. You need members to subscribe to your content and this will be your active readers who follow your tweets. You can build your “following” by:

  • Inviting customers to follow you in Twitter
  • Promote your Twitter account in your email newsletter, website, product brochures and the like
  • Make a promotion like offering coupon codes, discounts, or a chance to win a product or service for following you on Twitter
  • Check Twitter’s “Who to Follow” feature to check out suggestions of members to follow who have interest in the product or service that you are offering. Chances are, these members will follow you back to add to your community of readers.

3. Customize your Twitter profile. To attract members to follow you, you must have a very appealing and interesting profile page. Customize your profile by adding profile image, background and “About” description.

4. Use URL shortening services. Since Twitter is only limited to 140 characters, use URL shortening services like Bit.ly and TinyURL to shortened website addresses that you want to share in Twitter. That way, your Tweet will not just be made up of long URLs so you still have space to type the personal note that you want to share about that website address.

5. Use third party tools. You can extend the value of your tweets by using third party plugs in like TwitPic or Yfrog to share picture and videos, Twtpoll to use polling service and many more.

Another third party application worth mentioning is Tweetdeck. Tweetdeck lets you manage your Twitter account better by many of its nice feature like allowing you to create a list, monitoring specific keywords that might be of particular interest to your business, adding a column to monitor mentions to your username so you can monitor and reply to all your clients tweets and it also lets you schedule tweets in advance.

6. Use Hash Tags. To make your tweets easily searchable use hash tags which can be done by typing the character “#” followed by a relevant keyword about your tweet.

7. Tweet about latest news. Subscribe to news alerts of topics related to your field of business so you can tweet about it first as soon as it hit the news. For example, your company’s line of business is offering discount vouchers and coupon codes for various online stores like ebags, shoebuy, etc. If you receive an alert about a newly released designer bag, tweet about it right away so it has a bigger chance of attracting your readers.

Twitter can really be a great tool and if use right, might be an effective driving force for the success of your business.

The big backlink issue- Watch your content!

0

Backlinks are links in content which lead back to a point of sale. They’re very effective- Provided your content is of value. Too many internet “experts” seem to think that net users are looking for links, not information. One of the biggest, and stupidest, myths of all time regarding internet marketing is that SEO is some sort of trick. It’s not. It’s about people being able to find what they’re looking for, and what they need is information first, hyperlinks second. Do you read things online to look at links? Of course not. Why would you? Content is the issue for users, 100% of the time.

huge link chain

Backlinks and content basics

There’s one fundamental rule about backlinks and content on any site- Backlinks need to be part of content. They must have value to the user in context with the information being provided. The most important use of links of any kind is as references. They’re economic, they provide useful materials, and they also save a lot of verbiage for information providers.

So backlinks are actually very functional. They’re built into information materials on a quite legitimate basis in terms of their information, and do their jobs as references very efficiently. The user gets access to more information, so they’re an economic way of adding value to the content.

SEO and backlinks

In the SEO context, backlinks must also be relevant keywords. That’s their search value, and this value needs to be targeted properly.

For example:

An article is about new fridges. The backlink is a white goods wholesaler with a lot of the latest products, so it leads directly to useful “see for yourself” information for the user. So far so good, but there’s a further qualifier- The keywords. Imagine using “fridges” as a keyword. Useless or worse. You’d get millions of hits on a search, rank back about 90 millionth on Google, and nobody would ever know the article existed.

The SEO version needs to be “energy saver fridges” or something similar to add both relevance and a connection to reader interests. That’s the real function of search engine optimization and equally to the point, relevant to the article, which is about consumer benefits of new fridge technology.

Backlinks and search engines

This is also, for the record, why real SEO works and SEO gimmicks don’t. If you’ve seen those useless search results which lead straight to a mass of links to anything and everything, you’ll remember how thrilled you were to find a lot of utterly useless information and perhaps one or two links of any value to you. A colossal waste of time, and more to the point, more work for the person doing the searching.

Real SEO doesn’t work like that. It uses the backlinks as markers for search engines. The search engines are searching for relevance, not just link factories and that relevance comes from content. Google has made it clear it’s going for quality search results, and according to recent news, does about 500 changes to its algorithms per year. Gimmicks don’t last. They can’t, and nor can their rankings.

If you want results, sales and higher rankings, use backlinks and high value content. Forget the fads and stick to what works.
