India’s biggest financial fraud in Hitachi’s payment systems has led to leakage of 3.2 million debit card details according to a report by Economic Times. Nobody is sure about the culprit behind this but this is easy to crack mission and the biggest financial fraud ever for India.

Around 2.6 million are on the Visa and Mastercard platform while other 60,000 are on the RuPay platform. The banks that fall in this breach are HDFC, ICICI, Yes bank, Axis bank and SBI. This breach was detected after 6 weeks and when the users complain about the unauthorized user accessing their debit cards.  However, banks like HDFC and SBI have already warned their customers to stop using the non-HDFC bank ATM and to change their ATM pin. State Bank has already blocked six lakhs debit card and is going to reissue 60,000 debit cards.

Just by incorporating a malware in the Hitachi’s payment system, it enabled the culprit to steal all the details of the card members.

The Payment council of India has ordered a forensic audit that will be conducted by Bengaluru-based payment and security specialist SISA to investigate the origin of the attack and gauge the damage caused.

The whole of India is tensed due to such situation as this has created a lot of financial problems and we hope the culprit behind this will be out soon and should be charged penalty and punished for doing such harmful deed.

Technology has made the man perform such activities and put everybody’s life at risk. We are grateful to the technology world for making our lives simpler and easier with the new kind of technologies coming up but when the situation like leakage of information takes place, we curse the technology at the same time.

How to Encrypt Facebook Messenger Conversations

A recent addition to the Facebook Messenger mobile application is its “Secret Conversation” feature that allows its users to encrypt messages from one device to another. This allows a user to send messages that cannot be seen by anyone else. The process is carried out by using “Signal,” a protocol created by the Open Whisper Systems which is also used by WhatsApp.

Facebook Messenger will not initiate and include encryption with group conversations, GIFs, videos, voice/ video calling, or payments. But you will be able to send encrypted messages, stickers, and images on personal chats.

This is how you can start a secret conversation on the Facebook Messenger

Launch the Facebook Messenger mobile app to get started. Go to your profile and make sure that the encryption feature is enabled.

Tap the “Create New Message” button and rather than selecting the contact you want to send your message to (from the usual list), just tap on the “Secret” button in the top right corner.

So from there you can start an encrypted conversation. And when the contacts send you encrypted messages, notifications will not identify who the message is from.

Encrypt Conversations on Facebook Messenger

In case you want to verify that your messages are encrypted or not just view the conversation’s device keys. Facebook provides the following instructions to access that those keys:

  1. Open up a “secret conversation” with someone.
  2. Tap on their “name” at the top.
  3. Tap on the “Device Keys.”
  4. Then, compare your own device key with the other person’s device key and ensure that they match which verifies that the conversation is encrypted or not.

Keep in mind that there are certain terms and conditions that follow. “Secret Conversations” are available only for the Facebook Messenger mobile application. Both parties involved in the conversations must have the latest versions of Facebook Messenger having this feature.

Also, an encrypted conversation on one device can’t be extended to the other. You will have to repeat the same process that is listed above to start any new encrypted conversation with your contacts.
