Google offering premium apps at $0.25 to celebrate 25 billion downloads from the Play Store

The buzzing Android News this week is that Google Play Store(Android Market) has hit the landmark of 25 billion downloads which might not be a big deal for some considering Apple App Store crossed the same landmark earlier this year but it is an impressive feat for Android nonetheless given the rapid increase in Android adoption and marketshare. Google has decided to celebrate this feat by offering premium apps at a great discounted price of $ 0.25 (INR 13.36) for five days. The feat shows how strikingly the Android market share has been growing resulting in the download increase from the Google Play Store since it reached the 10 million download mark 9 months ago which means there have been over 15 billion downloads in just  9 months and 15 days.

Google has roped in some big names to celebrate this landmark like Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Rovio, runtastic, Full Fat, and other developers to offer premium apps and games at the Play Store at a discounted price of $ 0.25 keeping in mind with the ’25’ thing. Google will also be offering  special collections like 25 movies you must own, 25 banned books, 25 albums that changed the world and our 25 top selling magazines at sweet prices although not at the same 25 cents.

“Every day you’ll be able to choose from a collection of apps from some of the world’s top developers including Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Rovio, runtastic, Full Fat and more. And all for just 25 cents. We’ll also be offering some special collections like 25 movies you must own, 25 banned books, 25 albums that changed the world and our 25 top selling magazines, all at special prices.
