Social media giant Facebook launched a mobile application on Friday this week, The Events App, for discovering the local happenings to enjoy with friends. For now, the app is tailored only for the iPhone users and has already hit Apple’s online shop. Though for the Google-backed Android smartphones, the version will be coming out soon. According to some sources, the developers are working on the Android version and it won’t be too late for the users to enjoy the app on their devices.
About Events App
Events, is a standalone spin and a dedicated event app at the leading online social network. It lets people share their plans for concerts, poetry slams, plays, dining or any other type of events they are interested in. It will not ask you to sign into your FB account until and unless you want to share your listings.
“When you open the Events app, you can instantly catch up on the latest events your friends are interested in. You can also view the recently-announced events by the Pages you like. It even updates you on events you’re already connected to.” Facebook Product Manager Aditya Koolwal said.
According to Koolwal, more than 100 million Facebook account holders daily make use of the Facebook’s events section. They discover about the activities they can take part in along with their friends on the section.
Hence, Events app lets you browse through the recommended happenings based on factors like time, locations and / or your interests. It lets you explore the potential outing options with the help of interactive mapping facility.
Any plans that you make through the Events app are kept in an organizing manner on a calendar. These are also shared back with your Facebook friends. There’s just a plain old calendar helping you to keep track of all your upcoming events. And more importantly, you can even integrate your phone’s calendars to the app.
